I love these pictures from my July bride Lisa at Askham Hall Penrith taken by jesspetrie.com. Jess really captures the magic and detail that went into the day.
Lisa literally glows in her wedding pictures, I’d love to take the credit for that, but I would say that some of it is down to her sheer joy and happiness of the day!
Lisa wanted good coverage on her skin and I used Illasmaqua skin base foundation with Illamasqua primer.
Illamasqua are high end brand that launched in 2008. You may have seen them in Selfridges if you are lucky enough to shop in a big city! That comes from me the country girl (me!) who has to oder everything online!
Illamasqua they are cruelty and free and vegan products which have NEVER and will NEVER be tested on animals. This is a big attraction to the brand and I get more and more requests from people regarding this. So much so, I have booked a course at Illamasqua next month to learn from their professionals and extend my kit using their products.

Faye got married at Leeming House Penrith in August. I love the first picture above, it’s just what you would hope a wedding morning would be. All the girls chatting, getting ready, while the hair and makeup professionals do their thing!
Faye was a relaxed bride and at her trial wanted to be very natural and subtle as she’s not a huge makeup wearer.
However on the day I did one of her bridesmaids first, with a smokey eye (using brown earthy colours) and some extra individual false lashes and Faye decided she wanted to have that too.
I think the phrase ‘smokey eye’ makes people think about the girls from ‘The Only Way is Essex’, however it’s just the name of the technique, you can do it in any colour and as subtle as you wish.
So for Faye with her fair skin and strawberry hair with bright blue eyes I used brown and gold tones, the extra lashes as to look as natural as possible but really make her eyes stand out without being too ‘made up’ don’t you think?
The other thing is, when you have makeup on with jeans and a cotton top, some people can feel quite over the top. But once the princess dress goes on, and the hair is styled and the diamonds are sparkling makeup some people feel they want more makeup.
As I always say, there’s no right or wrong.
The most important thing is for you to feel great, if that means hardly any makeup that you want to do yourself or lots of false lashes applied by mean, it’s fine AS LONG AS YOU ARE HAPPY x

I simply love it when brides send me their wedding photos, because I have often left before she slips into her dress.
I received this picture yesterday, from a beautiful bride of mine from a few weeks ago who got married and held her reception at the impressive Askam Hall in Penrith.
It was my first experience of being a Wedding Makeup artist at Askham Hall. It really is a lovely building, with an amazing feel of history, and as corny as this may sound, it feels like the hall enjoys that it is now used for weddings. I’m all about ‘the feel’ and ‘sixth senses’!
Lisa, wanted a good coverage foundation, and I used Illamasqua skin base with Mac powder to set in her skin tone followed by Illamasqua setting translucent setting powder. Wedding makeup needs staying power, so I used Mac fixing spare, which is like hair spray for your face followed by more setting powder. Her eye makeup was very natural, using Mac brown eye shadows and a Illamasqua brown pencil. This lip colour suits her perfectly and is Mac Syrup, which is one of my favourite bridal lip colours, so much so I am doing my sisters wedding makeup in a month and I think I will be using that colour on her!
