Customer Testimonials

“WOW, Polly was simply fantastic! She put me at ease about my make up from the minute I met her at my trial. I suffer from acne on my face & chest & was having a flair up in the week leading up to my wedding, & she assured me that my make up would be perfect & it was. I felt & looked a million dollars. She was able to offer airbrush make up & a range of colours on my eyes & lips that complimented my pale blue dress & my make up lasted all night & looked flawless in my photographs.”

New additions to my personal kit — and why they’ve earned their place.

Not trends. Not hype. Just products that genuinely help skin behave better on real wedding days.

1. Caudalie Beauty Elixir
This isn’t about shine or glow for the sake of it. I use this to wake the skin up — especially when it looks tired, dull or dehydrated. It helps bring life back into the complexion so makeup sits more naturally, not heavier.

2. One/Size Powder Melt Glass Setting Spray
This is about longevity without that tight, over-set feel. I use it to lock makeup in while keeping skin looking like skin — particularly important for natural and soft-glam finishes that still need to last all day.

3. La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5+
A quiet hero for compromised skin. Redness, sensitivity, post-treatment or stressed patches — this supports the skin barrier so I don’t have to over-correct with makeup later. Calm skin always looks better than covered skin.

4. Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré
A classic for a reason. Reliable hydration, predictable texture, and makeup behaves exactly how I expect it to. When timings are tight and skin needs balance fast, this is the one I trust.

5. Caudalie Premier Cru The Cream
Used selectively rather than everywhere. It gives targeted nourishment without weight or excess shine — especially beautiful on drier or more mature areas where heavy creams would interfere with finish.

Nothing here is about adding more makeup.
It’s about helping the skin behave so the makeup doesn’t have to work as hard.
Save this if you like knowing why — not just what 🤍
Mother of the Bride… or sister? 🤍✨ Soft gla Mother of the Bride… or sister? 🤍✨
Soft glam for the most important women in the room.
For this beautiful Mother of the Bride, the focus was:
• Lifting and brightening the eye area
• Enhancing those incredible blue eyes
• Soft definition (never heavy)
• Bronzed, healthy glow
• Skin that looks fresh — not overdone
The goal isn’t to look different.
It’s to look radiant, confident, and completely yourself.
Modern mother of the bride makeup should feel polished, timeless and flattering in every photo — from ceremony light to evening flash photography.
Age is not something we “correct”.
It’s something we enhance beautifully.

Dry skin isn’t the same as dehydrated skin. And Dry skin isn’t the same as dehydrated skin.
And treating them the same way can actually make your makeup worse.
Dry skin = a skin type.
It lacks oil (lipids).
Dehydrated skin = a skin condition.
It lacks water.
You can have oily, acne-prone skin and still be dehydrated.
You can have dry skin that isn’t dehydrated at all.
Why this matters for bridal makeup:
Dehydrated skin:
• Clings to foundation
• Emphasises fine lines
• Looks dull or tight
• Breaks makeup down faster
Dry skin:
• Needs nourishment and barrier support
• Prefers creamier formulas
• Benefits from richer prep
When I prep brides for their wedding day, I’m not just applying moisturiser — I’m assessing whether the skin needs water, oil, or both.
Because glowing makeup starts with balanced skin.
If you’re planning a Lake District wedding and want your skin looking its absolute best in the lead-up, this is where we start 🤍

This bridesmaid makeup at Cragwood Hotel in Windermere was all about bronzed, glowing skin and soft glam that still feels natural. Radiant, sculpted, fresh — but never heavy.

Most brides say, “I don’t want much makeup” Most brides say, “I don’t want much makeup” 🤍
What they usually mean isn’t less effort — it’s less obvious. Often, they mean neutral rather than natural.
Looking like yourself on your wedding day takes balance, restraint and professional technique. It’s knowing where to add support, where to soften, and where to stop.
Natural bridal makeup isn’t accidental — it’s intentional.
I specialise in bridal makeup for Lake District weddings, creating neutral, natural-looking finishes that feel effortless, photograph beautifully and still feel like you.

This is what natural really means.
LED isn’t a trend — it’s a skin investment. LED isn’t a trend — it’s a skin investment.
I’ve been exploring at-home LED as part of my skin prep routine, and this one really stood out.
I always start with a clean, freshly washed face — LED is designed to be used on bare skin so the light can work without barriers.
Red + near-infrared light are commonly used to support collagen production, skin recovery and overall glow — especially helpful between professional treatments or during busy, high-stress periods.
Blue light works differently, helping to calm and balance the skin by targeting breakout-causing bacteria.
After LED, I apply my serums and moisturiser while the skin is calm and balanced. It doesn’t force products deeper — but it helps create the ideal environment for them to work more effectively.
As a makeup artist, skin prep is everything — and this has become an easy, consistent step I can use at home.
Would you try LED as part of your routine? 🤍

For many brides, this is the year planning starts to feel real. The excitement builds, the details come together, and decisions begin to matter a little more.
Bridal makeup is one of those things that’s worth thinking about early — not because it needs to be stressful, but because the best experiences are calm, considered and planned in advance.

This bride has full coverage skin and lashes — yet the overall look still feels soft, balanced and effortless.
One of the biggest misconceptions about bridal makeup is that “natural” means minimal products. In reality, it’s about how makeup is applied, balanced and finished, especially for photography and changing light throughout the day.
Coverage can even out skin tone, lashes can frame the eyes, and thoughtful placement ensures everything still looks timeless — not heavy.
